The Pathfinders Program provides undergraduate students in their first year at Baylor with the tools and resources necessary to identify research opportunities and apply for research and graduate preparation programs such as the McNair Scholars Program.

Application Deadline: October 1st
First Workshop: November 4th
Starting in November, carrying into the spring semester, Program Staff will host monthly workshops that will allow is members to begin discovering and preparing for undergraduate research opportunities. In addition, workshops will continue to provide guidance on building and refining application materials necessary for research and graduate preparation programs.
Program Benefits
Members will:
- Explore research interests, faculty mentorship and research opportunities
- Refine application materials and gain Interview skills
- Learn how to write personal statement and gather strong letters of recommendation
- Upon completion of the program, become priority applicant for McNair Scholars Program
- Name and information submitted to the National Name Exchange for Graduate Recruiters
- Name and information submitted to programs in the Office of Engaged Learning
- B-True, Engaged Fellows, Provost Scholars
Eligibility
- Our program is open to all students but aims to support undergraduate students who identify as any of the following:
- First Generation college student
- Student from an underrepresented racial identity
- Previous or current active military or spouse; current military reserve
- Women in STEM
- Rural student
- Freshman or first year transfer student
- Interest in undergraduate research and interest in going to graduate school
